This school is founded in 1870 in own grounds alongside church in rural village of Mathry in north Pembrokeshire. The National Curriculum is followed with regard to Cwricwlwm Cymreig where all pupils taught Welsh in infant class to establish a sound foundation for the language. English is also taught especially if English is the child's mother tongue than all children taught English before transfer to junior class. Since 2001 the school has had great success in national competitions and projects such as Welsh Heritage Award, Dyfed, Powys Police environmental competitions and road safety initiatives also short-listed for National Farmers Union Village School of the Year award. Pupils play variety of sports, which involved in many initiatives such as Dragon sports, SCAN online and ICT projects. Since 2001 pupils have set up a website and produced a CD-Rom of investigative history work. School has important place in local community with links to local businesses, council and the church. Members of the community, parents and friends of the school are invited to work alongside pupils where pupils raise funds for local, national and international charities. The school aims to provide happy and caring atmosphere based on the principles of a Christian ethos.
